Dalare has been a partner with the international racing and horse show community since 1937, providing cutting edge detection services for hundreds of drugs and acting as the official, independent testing laboratory for racing commissions, quarter horse and horse clubs throughout the United States.
Our laboratory was an early pioneer in the development of equine drug testing methodologies and was one of the first in the country to provide these services. We have been a member of the Association of Official Racing Chemists since 1974 and a participant in the Racing Commissioners International Quality Assurance Program since its inception in 1980. We also work closely with Cornell University in the pursuit of emerging testing methodologies and we are accredited to ISO 17025 and ILAC G7 for Equine Drug Testing.
Today we continue to provide the following services to racing commissions and show organizations throughout the United States:
- Analysis of blood and urine for a wide variety of forbidden drugs
- Confirmation testing of split samples
- Expert witness testimony for results
- Consultation on the development of drug testing methodologies

Instrumentation & Methodology
Dalare utilizes ELISA and instrumental screening including gas chromatography/ mass spectrometry (GC/MS), liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS), and LC/MS/MS ion trap instrumentation.
We have recently expanded our testing capabilities with a high resolution Orbitrap LC/MS. This technology enables us to detect and confirm ultra-trace levels of the latest performance enhancing drugs.
